Chad Huffman hit his 9th home run in the 9th inning to add an insurance run. Boone Whiting went 5 innings and allowed 3 runs on 5 hits and he struck out 5. Keith Butler picked up his second win with 2 scoreless innings in relief. Fernando Salas saved his 9th game while allowing a run in the 9th.

Springfield falls to Midland 11-5 on Sunday. The Cards allow 6 runs in the second inning and 5 runs in the sixth inning. Adam Melker led the way with three hits, including a double, and 2 runs scored. Shane Robinson, on MLB rehab, had 2 hits from the lead-off spot. Vance Albitz hit his second home run of the season and added 2 RBI’s. Jonathan Cornelius was rocked in his start, allowing 6 runs (only 1 earned) on 4 hits over 1 2/3 innings. Danny Miranda threw 2 2/3 scoreless innings in relief and Lee Stoppelman added 2 1/3 scoreless innings.
