(via CardinalsFarm.com) It was a very successful night for the Baby Birds as the Cardinal affiliates went 6-1 prior to the result of the Palm Beach game which was not known at the time of publication. Memphis, Springfield, Peoria, State College, Johnson City, and the GCL Cards all won. The GCL Cards also lost the second game of a double-header.
In the upper minors, Nick Additon of Memphis and Tim Cooney of Springfield pitched solid games and both picked up wins. Jamie Romak and Kolten Wong went deep for Memphis and Luis Mateo for Springfield.
In the low minors, C.J. McElroy led the way for Peoria with 2 doubles and 3 RBI’s out of the 8th spot in the lineup. McElroy was bumped down a couple of games ago. Chris Perry was excellent again for State College in the Spikes win and Jonathan Keener had 4 RBI’s in the Johnson City win. Ian McKinney (5th round), Malik Colleymore (10th round), and Steven Farinaro (11th round) all made their debut for the GCL Cards on Saturday.
