St. Louis Rams cornerback Cortland Finnegan has been pretty talkative this off-season. Just a few days ago, Finnegan was quoted as saying that if the Rams do not win the Super Bowl, then he feels that the Detroit Lions are the favorites, which caught some people off guard.
On Wednesday, Finnegan was at it again, this time on Twitter, and ripped his former Rams teammate and fellow defensive back Craig Dahl.
Craig Dahl we know how you play thanks for the tips we know who to attack early and often
— Cortland Finnegan (@CortFinnegan) June 12, 2013
Finnegan’s comments stem from some things Dahl revealed to the media earlier in the week. Dahl admitted publicly that he shared some of the Rams secrets regarding the 49ers offense last season, something that is normally done behind closed doors and kept quiet when players change teams within the division.
Commentary: Can you really blame Dahl? I mean, it is expected that when a player changes teams, that he is going to share information. This should not be a surprise.
But Rams fans have to love that Finnegan went right after Dahl and everything that Finnegan said was true.
Dahl has his short-comings, particularly in coverage, and with the Rams new explosive wide receivers (see Tavon Austin and Stedman Bailey) the Rams will likely try to expose Dahl when they can. There is not secrets needed there
Finnegan is a confident and cocky player and is a guy you love when he is on your team and despise when you play against him. He is one of the veterans on this team and is a leader and his comments in reaction to Dahl prove that he is not afraid to show that he and the Rams have some swagger as they head into Jeff Fisher’s second season.
The Rams and 49ers once had a huge rivalry and the way things are going, especially after the Rams went 1-0-1 against San Francisco last season, it looks like the rivalry may be building back-up very quickly.
