The St. Louis Cardinals are in Cincinnati this weekend playing the Reds in a classic National League Central match-up. Both teams are among the best in MLB and after the Cardinals beat the Reds 9-2, the Cardinals have a four-game lead over their rivals in the division race.
While the series in Cincy will get a lot of attention this weekend, the guys from The Cruddy Show could not stop talking about the performance of Shelby Miller from Thursday night, who picked up his seventh win of the season and hit his first career home run at the plate.
The guys discussed, if given the choice of picking one member of the St. Louis Cardinals franchise to start a new team, who they would pick and the overwhelming choice was Miller.
The guys discussed others, which can be found here, but Miller at 22-years of age offers the best long-term outlook of any other Cardinals veteran or prospect.
The guys also broke down what the Cardinals did in the first two rounds of the MLB draft, selecting left-handed pitchers Marco Gonzalez and Rob Kaminsky in the first round and Oscar Mercado in the second round. The guys gave their feelings on the thought process behind the picks and what they hope to see the rest of the draft.
